Playing Texas Hold’em
If you are playing slowly, that thing reffers to the fact that the gambler has a very strong hand and he will play as if it was mediocre if he wants to hold the opponents in the game play.
If any player will check when there is no other one to call, or to raise when another player has bet, these are some well known moves and strategies of playing slowly the game.
On the other hand, this move must be played with a lot of attention. Many players who just enjoy playing the game tend to use it too often, thing that gives the opponents a great advantage.
Each player must play slowly only in case if:
1. His hand is a strong one and if he will bet or raise he will drive the majority of the players out of the poker game.
2. The possibility that a new card will give the opponent a better hand than you got is small.
3. The possibility that a new card will give the opponent the second best hand is more than obvious.
4. The pot is relatively not so big.
Before the flop, you should not just call a bet. Consider that you may give too much information to the opponents in better positions when you just do this. Call a bet when you are strong and you think some of the opponents are ready to raise. If you don’t know how much to raise, firstly take a look at your cards and see whether you have a great or a reasonable hand or not.
If you are the small blind and there is no player to call the big blind, you should probably fold only when you face with a good player because you are going to be in a bad position.
Examples: if you hold a pair of Queens and the flop consists of Queen, Seven,Three, playing slowly cards would be a great move because it could be applied to all of the criterias that have been mentioned before.
If you own for example an A and a Q, or even a pair of Aces and the flop is Ace, Queen and Nine, you should not wait and start betting because the next card may make the opponent’s hand better than yours, let’s say for example a flush or a straight; and you wouldn’t definitely want to give a free card to the others that would have otherwise payed.
